Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the frequency reuse efficiency and the reverse link capacity of the CDMA PCS microcellular system. It is shown that in microcellular environments, the interference from neighboring cells is very small and thus the frequency reuse efficiency is much higher than in macrocellular ones. To calculate the frequency reuse efficiency we formulate `modified frequency reuse efficiency´ including softer handoff effects and analyse it for the finite number of softer handoff related microcells and various T ADD´s. In conclusion, this paper shows that the number of microcells related softer handoff must be increased and T ADD lowered in order to increase frequency reuse efficiency
