Abstract :
The dissipative feedback control law developed by the authors in `A dissipative feedback control synthesis for systems arising in fluid dynamics.´ SIAM, J. Control and Optim., 1990, is applied to the Burgers equation and the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. The control law is designed for driving a given fluid flow to a desired equilibrium state and enhancing energy dissipation effects of the given dynamics. These applications support the validation of the proposed control law in the previous article, not only for achievement of the desired asymptotic behavior, but also for changes in global nature of the transient behavior of the controlled dynamics that are not easily characterized analytically
