Abstract :
Necessary and sufficient conditions for the reachability and observability of multirate sampled-data systems are given in terms of simple rank tests. In particular, given a reachable and observable linear continuous-time system, it is shown that there exist proper algebraic conditions for the multirate mechanism which guarantee the desired structural properties for the corresponding multirate sampled-data system
