Abstract
Under multipath conditions, video intermediate frequency (VIF) detectors may generate a local oscillator phase error and consequently produce a dispersed detected signal due to the presence of additional IF carriers. A new detector is presented which by processing the detected phase quadrature information, derives the correct phase for synchronous detection in the presence of multipath effects. This minimises dispersion and produces a detected video signal with the linear addition of amplitude scaled ghosts
