Abstract
Having students learn many kinds of research is valuable to them as students and professionals. A form of primary research with which most technical communication students are unfamiliar is ethnography. This paper describes an ethnographic research project in a technical communication course and explains the purpose, preparation, procedure, and value of the project to the students, the subjects, and the curriculum. The paper also mentions potential problems and possible solutions
