Abstract
The authors present the BBC´s approach to planning and implementing the new DAB service. The service will use terrestrial transmitters. A DAB network has some fundamental differences to existing broadcast networks. These differences require novel solutions both in the initial planning of the service and its implementation. The authors highlight these areas and presents their solutions. In many cases, these involve compromises between the ideal and what can be achieved with reasonable economy (in terms of money and time)
