Abstract :
Man machine processes have become very important for knowledge based decision assistance procedures. This paper discusses the man-machine interaction process as well as procedures of processing and storing information and knowledge in collaborative engineering systems where both humans and computer procedures make decisions. Knowledge and model based approaches are applied. The proposed model of the man-machine interaction can be applied in CAD/CAM systems and in software applied in flexible manufacturing. The paper is organized as follows. First, the whole computer environment of an engineer is investigated. Then a man-machine model is proposed. The approach is to model human and computer activities, their connections and human intentions. Following this, an explanation based intention saving method is outlined. Finally the possibilities of implementation of the modeling and intention saving methods are concluded
