Abstract
As a natural evolution of ISDN (integrated-services digital network) architecture, integrated packet networks exhibit much commonality with conventional ISDN. There are, however, significant differences. The authors address network architecture and available services, traffic management, maintenance and provisioning, and billing in these two types of systems. Control strategies for the systems are compared in some detail
