Abstract :
Fast motion estimations achieve reasonable computation power, by using search patterns to find a potential ideal match. This paper presents a flat hex fast motion estimation search pattern, which favors horizontal displacement over vertical displacement. Experimental results show that due to the enlargement of the horizontal dimension in the greatest conventional "circular" search pattern, the flat hex maintains similar PSNR, with a little reduced bit rate, but achieves a decrease computation time.
