Abstract :
The authors conduct a thorough study for the free final time problem with control constraints. They formally derive all the results obtained earlier for the fixed final time problem, namely, the accessory problem, the conjugate point theory, and the necessary and sufficient conditions involving the Riccati equation. The analysis constitutes a comprehensive development of the second order necessary and sufficient conditions for the free final time problem
