Abstract :
Convergence of technologies like Internet, Wifi coupled with availability of High Quality Digital Content has persuaded us to incubate services like HD picture/video on other entities, like say, a Photo Frame (popularly called Digital Picture Frame -DPF). With emerging technologies like DLNA (Digital Linked Network Alliance) gaining importance in the home networking, has presented us with a challenging and rewarding opportunity to transform userpsilas home into a ldquoConnected Planetrdquo. In this paper, we propose an Adaptive Multi-functional Architectural Framework which integrates the DLNA system with DPF with HD Digital Content Management System. The system addresses the inherent challenges like Extendibility, QoS and Security by visualizing the system as three basic building blocks namely VAS Content Management framework, DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) framework and a Generic Application framework The proposed architecture offers support to multiple services like HD audio/video streaming, Content Recorder, Photo Gallery simultaneously on NGDPF with each framework adding to the new feature set. Ex: The QoS manager of DLNA framework with support from uPnP provides high throughput and enhances mobility based on user/application preference. The Content Management framework provides extensive support for compatibility or scalability to offer new services like Weather/Stocks over NGDPF.
