  • Abstract
We propose an optical burst ring network featuring both sub-wavelength- and wavelength-granularity grooming. Thanks to optical-layer transparency at network nodes, a large number of transponders for optical-electrical-optical conversion are saved. The use of fixed-tuned transmitters and regular optical amplifiers leads the burst network compatible with present WDM networks and feasible for deployment, and both sub-wavelength- and wavelength-granularity services can be easily provisioned and groomed.
