Abstract :
Summary form only given. Technological change affects all business sectors, presenting threats as well as opportunities. Strategic planning requires technology intelligence to identify technological developments in time. A model linking market needs via innovation fields to the technological environment is proposed. We distinguish between technology fields based on technologies in use at the company and interesting technology fields which can be limited by future product functions and weak signals on technological trends. Based on this model a technology intelligence process consisting of formulation of information needs, selection of information sources, data collection and evaluation of information is described
