Abstract
This paper presents the findings of research exploring the way teachers of English can develop when they collaborate with colleagues in an asynchronous mode by sharing electronic diaries in which they describe their teaching experiences, reflect on and discuss them with their colleagues In doing so, teachers express their emotions concerning their professional encounters in an attempt to make teaching and learning in their class more effective. It is argued that emotions can provide a measure of teacher development in such in-service teacher development contexts.
