Abstract :
OFDM has been proposed for IEEE 802.16, WiMax system. At the receiver, the knowledge of symbol timing is required for the signal demodulation in the system. Without symbol synchronization, the effects of ISI will degrade the system performance in the system. This paper proposes a non-data aided symbol synchronization algorithm employing the conjugate symmetry character in the BPSK-OFDM modulated signal. Under an AWGN channel, based on the performance of synchronization error rate and the estimator mean square error, the proposed algorithm is with a tremendous improvement compared with previous proposed method. Besides, under a multipath fading channel, the performance on the estimator mean square error with the proposed algorithm is similar to that with the previous proposed one. However, the performance of synchronization error rate with the proposed algorithm is better than that with the previous proposed method
