Abstract :
This paper analyzes the characteristics of WiMAX wireless technology and conducts a questionnaire survey in Hualien County to explore the local users´ demands of wireless service. The findings from the analysis of the 230 returned sample data demonstrate that the new service provided through WiMAX wireless technology (1) is highly appreciated by the people, and (2) proves that WiMAX is adequate for addressing the digital divide. Moreover, this paper proposes a strategy map for the development of the M-care industry through a five-force analysis of the industrial value chain and a SWOT analysis of wireless healthcare delivery, in order to provide advice to WiMAX venders on how to create new business as M-service providers
