Abstract
This article consists of a collection of slides from the author´s conference presentation. Firstly, the presentation introduces the evolution of IN towards a two layer architecture. Implementation aspects of the so-called lower layer IN are addressed. Further, the lower layer IN´s role with respect to open network provisioning is outlined - which requires service operator gateway functions in order to ensure network integrity and interworking with advanced applications. A virtual contact center is shown as an example for a corporate service operator application. The presentation concludes by listing the mayor benefits of the two layer architecture.
