Abstract :
A magneto-optical (MO) video disk recorder for 625/50 digital video signals and 4 channel digital audio signals has been developed. Using a φ30 cm MO disk, more than 30 minutes digital recording has been achieved with an optical head at 680 nm wavelength LD, (1,7)RLL code, 3-level Viterbi detection, CWL-CAV method, and data compression. When this recorder system is used for editing video programs, it will enable one to save time and get high quality pictures and audio without quality loss. By combining an automatic disk changer, one can easily construct a digital component video filing system having more than 40 hours recording time. It is expected that this equipment will be applied to video editing systems, video filing systems and many other applications
