  • Abstract
The authors describe a coherent methodology to build cost-effective and powerful tailored integrated circuits for efficient ´vision computer´. They studied the image processing algorithms and found that most of these algorithms could be expressed as an arrangement of simple functions. To validate this approach, they outline special-purpose integrated computer for real-time applications. The computer is designed to be handled by users who are not specialists in computer architecture. With only one high-level language, it will make it possible to determine whether a given combination of precisely specified components will have the requested behavior.<>
