Abstract :
The authors investigate nonnegative systems in connection with a class of production-inventory models where backlogs are permissible. An error minimization scheme is adopted as an alternative to classical methods of control theory. In each period, goal programming is used to select controls which minimize the sum of the absolute errors involved. Simulation results suggest that the error remains small using this approach
