Abstract
This paper describes two applications where a digitally controlled programmable ringing generator may be used to provide more efficient use of ringing equipment and office space without sacrificing system reliability. The first application describes a standby ringing system which uses one digitally controlled programmable ringing generator to provide standby capability for a multifrequency system containing five individual ringing generators. The second application describes a ringing system which will replace a multifrequency ringing system containing five ringing generators and an associated interrupter, with a single digitally controlled programmable ringing generator equipped with a sequence control unit.
