  • Abstract
    This paper presents a new improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to solve numerical optimization problems. The proposed approach, namely NPSO, modifies the velocity updating equation to balance the global search and local search abilities of PSO. In order to test the performance of our approach, we test it on nine well-known benchmark numerical optimization problems. Simulation results show the efficiency and effectiveness of NPSO.
