Abstract :
In the process of designing a successful plant for recycling E-scrap, one identifies many areas that depend on the business environment and legal framework that will evolve. Therefore, it is most important to first support the development of the legal framework in which the recycling industry will develop. North America is currently going through the process of developing that framework. Different States have different approaches, all generating different outcomes at all levels of the electronic waste recycling sector. This article presents to lawmakers, OEMs, importers, and distributors a broader view of the effects that the design of the legal and economic framework of this sector will have on the recycling industry and the final outcomes on the environment. If we all understand the importance of establishing the working principles, and then designing and developing this industry in an inclusive manner with all the involved parties; I am sure that we will create a new, profitable industry that will help us all to protect the environment and assume in a responsible way our duties at reasonable costs for everyone.
