Abstract :
Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are financial and non-financial metrics used to quantify objectives to reflect strategic performance of an organization. Used in Business Intelligence (BI) to assess the present state of the business and to prescribe a course of action, KPIs can tell you how the business is performing according to certain parameters. Organizations use this knowledge to pre-empt problems, quickly resolve issues before they impact the end-user experience, and document performance as seen from the customer point of view. KPIs are intended to develop strong industry standards and methods for benchmarking performance across many different domains that relate directly to the operation of an organization: Revenue and margin, Customer experience and Operational efficiency. Especially when enterprises are big global players, agreeing on global KPIs would mean minimizing consultation effort for the individual affiliates, thus bringing significant great value to the whole group. It means organizing logic for data, application, and infrastructure, captured in a set of policies, relationships, and technical choices to achieve the desired business and technical standardization and integration. The bottom line is to improve the enterprises through effective corporate governance guidance. The operational efficiency depends on global enterprise and market data available in near real time, involving advanced information technology and communication tools for monitoring and reporting. This paper will discuss recent trends in enterprise performance management, putting emphasis on operational performance metrics. This information coming from the combination of operational support and IT, enables the management to tailor service packages that deliver maximum satisfaction to end-users and provide invaluable intelligence.
