  • Abstract
The electric power industry has experienced tremendous changes over the last 5 years, which have impacted the way the power system is operated in the US and the world. The key questions are how to accomplish these objectives and what impact has deregulation had on operating the power system. This paper addresses some of the current challenges that independent system operators (ISOs), utilities and their system operators are facing, in managing their systems in order to fit into the new deregulated environment
