Abstract :
In this paper at first requirements of competition market and market power potentials are discussed in order to point out some key issues to be investigated more carefully by the policy makers and power market managers. Then power market of Iran is studied. The structure of this market, the role of regulator and market manager, as well as the market players are introduced. This paper concludes with some lessons from power market of Iran and some points for its performance enhancement. These could be beneficial for Iran, as well as developing countries that are establishing or modifying their own power market
