Abstract :
Pulsed wave radars are very promising due to their numerous attractive features over traditional continuous wave radars. This paper presents the range and doppler estimation of moving targets using pulsed doppler radars. Various techniques have been implemented to correctly estimate the range and radial velocity of the moving target. Moving Target Indicator (MTI) is widely accepted as computationally efficient method to estimate the range and Doppler of the moving targets. But the Doppler estimation using MTI in case of multiple and very fast moving targets is not an accurate method. Adaptive CFAR thresholding is another technique that improves the performance of the system at very low SNR. We employ an FFT based signal processor with CFAR detector to produce unbiased estimates of the ranges and radial velocities of the multiple moving targets. Results show significant Improvements over other implemented techniques even at very low SNRs.
