Abstract :
Rapid changes in technology have provided many challenges for the medical and educational systems of Japan, a modern, cosmopolitan country with a sizable and sometimes isolated rural population. We have developed a communications system in an attempt to solve some of the problems created by this social division. Herein, we show examples of some possible uses of this MuTA system, with examples of our test programs in remote education and for elderly persons. Although MuTA is basically a communication tool, it can be used in a variety of ways including telemedicine and tele-consultation. This system has great possibilities for use for many other purposes.
