Abstract :
In this paper a technique is discussed for the efficient synthesis of non-regular linear arrays with well controlled side lobes. Towards this end, a hybrid strategy is presented which integrates a non-uniform antenna array design algorithm exploiting almost different set (ADS) methodologies with a tapering technique based on convex programming (CP). A set of preliminary numerical results dealing with various pattern constraints is presented in order to show the effectiveness, numerical efficiency, reliability, and potentialities of the approach.
