Abstract
We present the performance of a foward error correction (fec) scheme for submarine transmission systems using Block turbo code. The decoding is based on soft decoding and soft decision. This solution gives 4 dB additional gain margin compared with the existing rs(255,239) with redundancy equal to 28%.
