Abstract
A technique called MLayAIM has been recently introduced for the analysis of large planar patch arrays. The method can be profitably applied also to the analysis of metasurfaces. However, in some cases, for example when artificial magnetic surfaces are considered, several pins and/or large vertical metallizations can be present. This reduces the effectiveness of the method and increases the dynamical memory requirement. In this paper we show how the hybridization of the MLayAIM with the Adaptive Cross Approximation (ACA) method can mitigate the reduction of performance, preserving the original computational complexity of the method.
