Abstract
The authors present a new scheme to realize global computation on massively parallel machines. This scheme uses asynchronous computation to provide powerful and fast global primitives. They rely on a formal model that can be used to effectively develop algorithms. The most promising application of this architecture is image analysis, that can rely on a cheap 2D mesh topology and provide an efficient implementation of most basic primitives
