Abstract :
In this paper, we present a simple but effective color space conversion method for converting high precision YUV signals to 24-bit RGB signals. Compared to conventional color conversion method, our proposed method preserves more precisely the luminance information of the original YUV signal, while the chrominance difference is kept within a tolerable range. This method results in a smoother perception of ramps on a 24-bit display, where the conventional method shows obvious banding effects. A pre-quantization module to compensate existing hardware of YUV to RGB conversion is also presented in this paper.
