An Application System for Material Budgeting in Shipbuilding

An application System for Material Budgeting in Shipbuilding has been developed based on process of blocks shipbuilding and PDM (Product Data Management) technology. It can calculate data of the vertical center of gravity of every part, section or block, the material quantities of steel plates, painting areas and welding rods and so on. It provides engineers and mangers with a useful tool in budgeting the cost of manufacturing including painting and welding of every section and including determining how to pay for co-operative enterprise of production in a shorter time. It is an open system which may be broadened and perfected to cover a wider range of engineering applications through the modification and enlargement of the databases.
