Abstract
A new design of the feeding structure for a parabolic reflector impulse radiating antenna (IRA) is presented. The proposed inverse back-to-back Vivaldi feeding arms provided an ultra-wideband matching for the frequency range of DC to 10GHz for the input impedance of 200 ohm. The reflector efficiency is better than 35% at frequencies between 2.5 to 10 GHz. The antenna matching, antenna gain, radiation pattern and efficiency, and far-field radiated pulse shape are presented. The antenna optimization for the improved performance in terms of return loss and radiation efficiency is conducted by adjusting the thickness and the width of the feeding arms. The full wave time domain simulations are presented.
