Abstract :
It is shown how, and under what conditions, the right inverse problem subject to minimization of a cost functional admits a unique solution, and how a square descriptor model of this problem can be obtained. The inverse solution can then be found by numerical integration of the resulting descriptor. A necessary and sufficient condition for the existence and uniqueness of the solution is given, together with mild sufficient conditions on the weighting matrices
