Abstract
A snubber is a set of components which reduce the stresses on the power semiconductors during switching intervals and transients. A snubber configuration is presented which is especially suited for bridge connected, pulse width modulated OC to OC, OC to AC or AC to DC converters with either transistors or GTOs as the switching elements. The snubber gives both turn-on and turn-off switching stress reduction. It has fewer components, is cheaper and has better performance than other equivalent snubbers described in the literature.
