Abstract :
The author considers the adaptive control problem of linear, time-varying single-input, single-output plants, with emphasis on adaptive laws employing the so-called σ-modification. He derives a sufficient condition which guarantees signal boundedness for adaptive laws using the σ-modification and normalization. Effectively, this condition relates the speed and the range of the plant parameter variations with the value of σ and provides at least qualitative guidelines for the selection of the design parameters in the adaptive law
