Abstract
Rank revealing singular value decomposition (SVD) is applied to the selection of supplementary feedback signals for power system stabilizers. Two measures of observability of the subsynchronous mode are obtained. The two measures are applied to a detailed model of a machine with a long line with a capacitive compensation
