Abstract
The Norwegian Energy Act is dated June 1990. It is intended to ensure that the generation, conversion, transmission, trading and distribution of energy are rationally carried out for the benefit of society, with regard to public and private interests. The provisions, tasks and objectives, deregulation, reregulation, privatisation and concessions are briefly outlined. The role of the regulator is also outlined. The organisational structure of the power industry is discussed as are the solutions to practical problems. Future work is discussed
