Abstract
This paper investigates the possibility of the use of FACTS devices such as SVC, TCSC on the Vietnamese power system, including long transmission lines, in order to improve voltage and transient stability and power oscillation damping. The long-term time simulation is also presented with the help of the Eurostag program by taking into account dynamic aspects of FACTS devices. In order to evaluate effects of FACTS devices on voltage and transient stability, several scenarios are examined on this system with the satisfied results. The results show that by using the FACTS devices, voltage and transient stability, oscillation damping and power transfer capability are considerably improved in both normal and contingency operations
