Abstract :
Several dynamic scheduling policies are considered in connection with a real manufacturing system that includes nonacyclic flow lines and bottleneck machine. In particular, simple policies, based on the job due dates and slack times, are compared with one which combines the least-slack-time rule and a heuristic aimed at avoiding the starvation of the bottleneck machines. The performance criteria adopted for such policies are a function of the job tardiness. Some experimental results are provided and discussed
