Abstract :
Significant efforts are now underway to develop middleware standards, within the Object Management Group (OMG), the Java Community Process and the Service Availability Forum, for the online upgrading of application software while that software continues to provide service. We highlight the main features of the proposed OMG online upgrade specification. We also present several online upgrade scenarios and give an example use case of the online upgrade specification.
