Abstract :
The tourism website has become a pivotal tool for tourism destination marketing. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the internet tourism information of 30 local governments´ official tourism websites in China. Analysis was concentrated on eight items such as foreign language, site counter, menu item, sitemap, search engine, e-map, information update and contact point, link site. This study suggested that gratifying results were achieved in the development of the local governments´ official websites in China whilst problems still remain. Implications of this study could be used to improve the tourism information provision for local government.
