Abstract :
Applications such as high-speed computer networks, in-home delivery of multimedia services and the demand for flexibility drive the need for broadband wireless communication systems. Since the available frequency spectrum is scarce, future systems should be characterized by significantly enhanced spectral efficiency in order to increase link throughput and network capacity. A very promising approach is to use multiple antennas at both transmitter and receiver i.e., a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system. With such a system the throughput can be increased by simultaneously transmitting different streams of data on the different transmit antennas but at the same carrier frequency. OFDM being very promising modulation technique, the combination MIMO-OFDM is very natural and beneficial. In this paper, we mainly focus on how MIMO exploits spatial diversity, channel modeling, one of the flat-fading techniques: Zero Forcing, challenges of testing MIMO. And also, we discuss spatial diversity coding for MIMO-OFDM, Simulation results are also provided.
