Cyclo convertor drive systems

The cycloconvertor drive system is available with both synchronous and cage induction motors, together with a choice of power convertor circuits to suit virtually all applications provided the top speed is within the limits of cycloconvertors. The speed of the response of the systems exceeds that of DC motors and is easily able to meet the responses required by steel mills and other processes. A growing number of uses of cycloconvertor drives are occurring in a number of industries and the author presents a list of certain applications together with the motor type selected and brief details.
