Abstract :
This paper presents a design of reflectarray element based on multilayer and aperture coupled C-patch for X-band. This kind of reflectarray element can be applied for both passive reflectarray and electronically reconfigurable reflectarray (RRA). The validation uses various prototypes of the elements, which are fabricated and measured at 12 GHz. The experimental results show good characteristics of the reflectarray element with its wide range of reflection phase depicted by a quasi-linear phase curve. The element also shows a perspective of actively shifting phase by integrating with p-i-n diode switch. The measurement indicates that the element with attachment of p-i-n diode has good capability of changing the reflection phase between two states (on and off) of the diode.
