Abstract
The limitations of an array-based model for a rapid and accurate analysis of planar lenses are thoroughly studied in this contribution. This array-based model allows a system consisting of a horn and a lens to be analyzed with a reduction of the time consumption in comparison with a commercial full-wave software. This enhancement of the time resources is met by making some approximations about the behavior of some parts of the system, producing a limitation in the range of situations within which it can be reliable. Despite the fact that these limitations are not critical, they need to be properly set up. In order to carry out this study, several lenses are simulated at the frequency of 10GHz with a full-wave software showing great concordance with the model while meeting the boundaries of use of the model.
