Abstract :
A compact, CPW- fed octagon shaped antenna for 5GHz and Higher band UWB applications is presented. The antenna consists of ground plane and an octagon-shaped exciting stub. The octagon - shaped stub is simple and has less parameter, which are convenient to optimize. The proposed antenna is designed on an inexpensive FR4-epoxy substrate with dielectric constant εr = 4.4 and with a size 30mm×24.4mm×1.5mm. The presented antenna has an impedance bandwidth from 4.5GHz-11.2GHz (VSWR<;;2), maximum gain 3.9dBi and directivity from 2.5dBi to 6.0dBi. By controlling dielectric constant (Substrate), dimension of patch, and thickness of the conductor strip, we can realize the antenna for different band of impedance matching.
