Abstract
It is noted that, with the increased use or larger, higher voltage, substations and distribution systems, industrial plants are faced with more possibilities of potential transformer ferroresonance. The authors review the basic phenomenon of ferroresonance and provide general guidelines for the application of potential transformers in avoiding ferroresonant problems in industrial systems. Experiences of utilities and REAs in dealing with ferroresonant problems provide the basis for the guidelines. Case histories are provided
